OpenVPN over TLS: Extending a Legend

OpenVPN is the most trusted protocol in history, but its standard signatures are now easily recognized by modern routers.

The Stunnel Approach

By wrapping OpenVPN in a TLS tunnel (often using Stunnel or a custom GO wrapper), we can hide the OpenVPN "handshake" inside what looks like a standard browser connection.

Reliability Meets Stealth

This setup combines the battle-tested reliability of OpenVPN with the stealth of TLS. While it has more overhead than WireGuard, it remains the preferred choice for enterprise-grade stability where legacy compatibility is required.
